Illustrated Character

Characters are often the focus of children’s illustration, whether it be in books, on tv or a toy and children tend to learn from these characters and follow their actions or pick up on their knowledge. For example, Alice from Alice In Wonderland encourages kids to be curious while Harry Potter shows that they should be brave. Not all characters lead the best example but for the most part, children can learn valuable life lessons from them.

Below is a moodboard of characters that are illustrated in styles that inspire me. I have chosen those that influenced me as a child as well as iconic characters that everybody can recognise.  They are mostly made up with few colours and minimal but bold features. The styles range from bold and colourful to sketchy and pastel which gives me plenty of ideas for experiments I could do.
